The legend of the creation of the dwarves comes from Ethendel himself. Ethendel was in need of great blacksmiths to forge his weapons for his legendary battles, so he created a creature that was to be the most skilled blacksmith in all of the land. These creatures were called the dwarves, they are stout, short and have a mighty temper. The greatest blacksmiths among them were said to be the very ones who forged diamond plate from the blaze of the rift-fire.
