We have introduced 3 new chat channels which are not ranged channels but are global channels. One of these new channels is a universal channel. This means it doesn’t matter if your friends are on TAW and you are in the Creative World or the Lobby, you can still chat to them. Details on the new channels below.

  • [Faction Channel] Global – Same World Only (Alias: fc)
    This is a private global channel shared between you and your Faction mates. All players who are in a Faction have access to this channel. No cooldowns.
  • [World Channel] Global – Same World Only (Alias: wc)
    A global channel accessible to all players that can only be heard by others on the same world. Useful for making announcements, asking a question, making a trade offer, and other things of that nature.  180 second cooldown.
  • [Ancient Worlds Channel] Universal – All Worlds (Alias: taw)
    This is a Universal channel that is accessible to TAW Members and acts as a new form of chat that reaches all worlds. No cooldown. Note: This is a private channel and can only be heard by TAW Members & Staff

Daily Login Rewards have arrived! These new rewards are quite simple at this time but will be developed to be more in-depth in the future. You will receive this reward automatically when you Enter The Ancient World once every 24 hours. Here are the rewards as of right now;

Sometime in the coming week Vertigo Gaming will be visiting and taking a video tour of our world for his Youtube channel. During this event we will be tackling a tough dungeon with a lot of monsters and a boss fight. We expect we will need some assistance.. If you are online in the evening (EST) this week, keep an eye out for an announcement on our Discord for this event and come join us.

Mrtrustme sits alone in his house

It was discovered that a bloodthirsty killer was living right under the noses of the Citizens of Voyager’s Wharf. The Killer, Mrtrustme, was ruthless in his serial killing of many innocents of the new city. Nobody suspected anything could have been wrong in the quaint port town. But sometimes evil can lurk in the dark corners of the most unexpected places..

A mysterious portal opened up nearby the Freelancer Fort. A large group of well geared TAWers took the main road from Euloria to Freelancer Fort to investigate.

What they found was a dimensional portal with a strange mix between nether & aether spewing out a variety of mob types. Enderman, Endermites, Witches, Summoners, and Blazes poured from the gates and advanced towards Freelancer Fort. As the skies darkened the danger grew and the corruption spread further and faster.

Just as the situation grew further out of control, the heavens were said to have cracked open with a flash of light, and a being glowing with light descended, relighting the landscape below and smiting all evil mobs that were crawling the landscape. The corruption was purified, and a voice was heard. The Mortals below gathered to hear the words.

The Mob Arena is now here. Join the fight today! Bring your own gear or choose one of the preset kits. Battle waves of monsters, loot the chests, earn some extra XP! You can find the new Mob Arena across the road from the Cathedral.

There’s been some changes to the way our Chat works on TAW. We now have Chat Channels you can switch between. These new Channels are;

  • Whisper – 5 Block Radius (Alias: w)
  • Talk – 50 Block Radius (Alias: t)
  • Yell – 300 Block Radius (Alias: y)

To switch between channels, type the command /ch <channel alias>

For Example; to switch to the Talk Channel, type /ch t

You may also send a singular message to a channel without having to switch to it. Simply use the channel alias you would like to send a one-off message to. For Example; /y hello!

To private message at any distance, use the /message & /reply commands.

Server Meeting Concluded

Continuing our tradition of Artifacts of the Month from past ages, Gifts of the Month are our new flavor of Artifacts. These will  be sold in the city Patheon.

The first Gift, Vaestian’s Holy Lance, had a limited stock of 5 and is already Sold Out! But do not fret. There may be a small restock coming very soon. So save up your XP and stay updated on our Discord

Ordinator Laws are not to be confused with Server Rules. Ordinator Laws are RP laws that are set for citizens of the city to assist in keeping order. They do not deal with wilderness raiders, brigands, or factioners. Breaking said laws will result in fines, imprisonment, and even exile from the city.

High Ranking Ords double as server moderators who enforce server rules OOC.

Some of the following laws discussed so far:

  • No stealing from players at spawn (Jail, then exile if reoccurring)
  • Terth Worship and Terthian items are outlawed (Will be confiscated + defaced) Punishment: (Banishment from spawn town and public humiliation – God disapproval)
  • Lord Worship is frowned upon (Gods must be found in the cathedral at spawn) Punishment: (Jail and possibly a sermon from a priest or another method of brainwas- … converting)
  • No bad talking the Ordinators or the Gods – they are here to help (Fine of 3 gold ingots, jail if not able to pay)
  • Gold armor is not allowed as it is impersonation of an Ordinator (Warning, then fine of 5 gold ingots, then jail)

Citizens are not the only ones who must follow a guideline to avoid strife. The Ordinators themselves have their own code they must adhere to when they are sworn in. The PRIMARY focus for any Ordinator (RP-Ordinator or Otherwise) are to be a helpful presence to all citizens of TAW. We don’t want to give the impression that all Ordinators do is enforce laws – laws are only enforced for the betterment of all Mortals in the interest of peacekeeping. An Ordinators day to day duties will be welcoming new arrivals, assisting them, providing conflict resolution to all and much more.

Ordinator Code:

  • Assist citizens to the best of their ability in all matters. If a task is too great, it may be referred to a higher ranking Ordinator.
  • When passing by a shrine to the Lady or Vaestian, an Ordinator must offer a small prayer.
  • All golden items confiscated by Ordinators must be smelted down into bars if applicable and placed in the Ordinator vault. Taking the gold for their own benefit is a serious crime worthy of demotion.
  • Heretical items must be offered to the gods by Ordinators so that their powers may be drained and destroyed. Failure to do so will result in Demotion and Banishment.
  • Maintain golden armor at all times, to ensure the citizens know who can aid them at a moments notice.
  • Assist fellow mortals against the manifestations of Terth whenever and wherever possible.
  • Never harm another mortal unless such person has been banished from spawn town and is acting aggressively.
  • Do not jail a citizen unless there is the proper justification. The citizen must be guilty of breaking a city law.



It was revealed at our Server Meeting that a new Dungeon event is currently in the works. It has not be revealed yet when this will be ready, but it is coming.

The Ancient Worlds consists of countless worlds. Usually, these worlds exist independently of one another, their presence unnoticed by those living elsewhere. However, Terth, God of Darkness, has always put our realm, the Mortal Realm, under siege from his own. Each attack, a rift, strains the fabric that keeps worlds independent.

During the Age of Rifts 2, Terth’s final rift brought his world and ours closer than ever. Since then, strange objects and structures have begun appearing all over the Mortal Realm. Most notable are strange floating stones, each seems to whisper a coming doom, and a potential solution.

The No-Raid Grace Period for August is now over. If a faction has not yet returned for 1.14 to reclaim their base and possessions, then they are now free for the taking. They may also be converted into ruins.

Plots are now available to rent in the new second district! Simply visit the plot of your choice and right click it’s sign to rent the plot. Each time you right click the sign you will rent an extra day, up to a maximum of 30 days at once. If you need assistance setting up your plot, reach out to an Ordinator for help.

At our meeting several potential bonus worlds were revealed to the community. We would like to see all of these worlds & more become available in the future. However, only one can be developed at a time so we are opening a new poll on which world you would like to see become available first.

VOTE for the world that looks the most intriguing to you! But please note that the proposed worlds below are conceptual at this stage and may differ in some ways to the released product. If you have your own ideas for a world please let us know.

Age of Darkness World

  • Minecraft Version 1.8
  • Always Night
  • Powerful Mobs
  • Harsh Weather

Take a trip back to an age frozen in time. The world as it was in 2012, upgraded to Minecraft 1.8.

The New World

  • Minecraft Version 1.8 (or updated to 1.14)
  • Factions

Travel back to The New World the way we left it in 2015. We can revisit a snapshot of the server in it’s Minecraft Version 1.8 state, or we upgrade it to the latest version. To be determined.

The Darklands World

The Darklands was a modded server we ran in 2014 that most TAW players never experienced. The Terrafirmacraft mod totally converts Minecraft survival into a deeper and more pure survival experience. Read more about Terrafirmacraft on it’s Wiki page

A lot has been happening on The Ancient Worlds since our re-opening event on the 17th of this month. There has been a lot of server growth in terms of new players as well as functionality. We have been working tirelessly to support this new growth both in-game as well as upgrading all of our server hardware. We want to thank everyone for their patience with our frequent server maintenance & slow rollout of new plugins.

Our new spawn city is coming along very well. Growth was very fast to the point where our Ordinators needed to create a magical barrier around it to prevent any further out of control growth. Efforts are now being made to reconfigure current streets and buildings to create a more coherent and accessible spawn city for our world.

Due to the recent population growth on The Ancient World we realized we needed to create enough plots to support it. This is being done through a new development of a second district that is planned to support up to 60 plots! These plots will be used for shops or homes.

  • Tier 1 – Fish (any type)

A hot topic since the beginning of this age is what economy will we be using, and how will we acquire it? We think we have found the answer..


There are many ways of acquiring XP in Vanilla Minecraft. So by making XP transferable to currency, we feel it may solve our dilemmas of fair and balanced methods of acquiring currency. Visit the Codex Page for more information!

Portal Gates are a feature exclusively available to Members. These are created by building a frame with at least 2 emerald blocks in it, then right clicking the inside of the frame while holding a named clock (renamed using an anvil). Repeat the same thing on a second Portal to have them linked up.

Ordinators are the eyes and ears of the Lord of Order, Vaestian. As well as his left and right hand. They are here to maintain fairness and order in the land, and act as server Moderators. TAW Server Meeting Concluded – And a visit from a Twitch Streamer!


Today we held our bi-weekly server meeting at Euloria and discussed many topics regarding The Ancient World. We also had a visit from a Youtuber & Twitch Streamer. More information about that at the end of this post.

If you couldn’t make it to the meeting that’s okay because below I have provided all the important things to take away from our meeting.


Re-Corrupted Biomes

A lot of work went into fixing up our biomes map wide. The biomes were fixed and were ready for the 1.14.4 launch. But mysteriously, biomes worldwide began to re-corrupt again in many areas just 2 days before the launch. This is an unfortunate occurrence and there’s nothing we can do to fix it now until our biome tools are updated. We hope that your home region is not too affected by the corruption!

Creative World

A topic of discussion was the Creative World that exists on it’s own partition on the TAW server. This partition has been closed off as to provide the server with more resources for our TAW map. However, we need the Creative World up so that our staff can continue to use it to plan for future community events. The great news is we now have Bungee support – which will allow us to have a Creative World on it’s own server and link it without it taking up precious resources from TAW. We may also split this creative server into 2 separate partitions – one being for public use and the other for event staff.

It is important to note though that extra servers do increase our maintenance costs. And we haven’t yet reached our quarterly donation goal. We would like to ask that anyone who is interested in using a Creative World on our network to consider donating and helping us reach our goals.


Spawn Rules

It was debated whether or not raiding and PvP should be permitted in our new settlement area. PvP is out because the area is under a PvP safezone, so PvP isn’t actually possible. Raiding however is less predictable and requires some kind of moderation. We do not condone players going to /spawn and stealing supplies from chests that are being used to supply the multiple building projects that are on-going there. If anyone is caught stealing (and we will know, because we can check chest access history) the perpetrators will be asked to return what they stole. So, just don’t do it anyway and save us all the hassle 🙂

New God/s


A new god for TAW has been revealed at this meeting! All that’s been revealed so far is a skin, and a name. But either of these are subject to change. Stay tuned for more updates regarding these potential new allies!

New Currency

A very popular topic was what should our new currency be? Having a new currency will allow us to support other plugins on the server such as Shopchests.

Most of us agreed we should use an item that is from the new update that almost nobody has. This way when it is introduced everyone will begin with the same wealth. It was decided that Nautilus Shells will be our new currency.

There was also discussion about what sort of methods can we use for gaining this currency? This question is still on the table. Nautilus Shells can be gained through fishing in vanilla Minecraft but we’re going to need more variety than that. Expect more news to come out about currency in the following weeks as we work to answer this question!


This topic was simple! TAW no longer has a Whitelist and is open.

Idle Logout Timers

It was brought up that Phantoms have been a challenge for some players who are not able to sleep in beds to skip the night because of AFK players. It was suggested that a Idle Logout Timer be introduced to kick players that idle for too long. I have a few things to say about this.

  1.  Firstly, AFKing on TAW is something a lot of old players have been doing for a long time. It’s become sort of a stable for some people to be logged in while they complete school work or handle other tasks on their PC. To take that away for only a singular reason doesn’t seem very justified or fair.
  2. Secondly, and this reason is rather personal. But as someone who’s played Minecraft since the earliest days, Beds were not something we had in the early days and skipping nights and all the challenges of the game were just not that easy. Some may feel differently about this, but not all of us wish to skip every night which we might consider to be half the fun of the game.
  3. And that leads me onto my third point. Even with a logout timer, its likely you will still have players who are too far away from a bed because either they are exploring or mining etc. You can ask them to logout and they might be happy to. But this really all comes down to the circumstances having to be absolutely perfect so that up to 10 people will either sleep in a bed or logout so that the night can be skipped. Stopping people from being able to AFK for a few minutes isn’t going to solve every scenario where you want to skip the night. This is going to continue to be a problem if you have a high population on the server. It cannot be avoided.

So with all that said – our best suggestion to deal with the Phantom invasion is to simply stay indoors at night and wait out the night. Or gear up and fight them off. It is not impossible and the mobs are not totally unreasonable. If you remain indoors they will leave you alone. And you can always attend to other tasks such as mining or crafting. The days on TAW are twice as long as the nights so use your time outside wisely and return indoors when the sun sets.


Speaking of Phantoms.. just as we were done discussing them, we had some visitors swoop down on our meeting area!

The First Day of TAW 1.14


Today was the Re-Opening event for the launch of TAW 1.14! We had a fantastic turnout with a lot of old and new players coming in to check things out!

If you couldn’t make it to the event, we have you covered! Below is a recap of what unfolded when we all stepped off the ship and into a fresh new land.


Right from the start our settlers were caught in the middle of a thunderstorm. But that didn’t oppose them at all. A campfire on the beach was made and food and supplies were gathered around the area.


It wasn’t long before a supply shack was built where shared resources were gathered to be used for the new settlement. Plenty of tree felling took place to clear a large enough area to construct what will be our building area.

Lots of jokes, conversations, and Good times were had around the already established common areas.

Then came the nights..

The new settlers soon realized the nights would be long and full of terrors. The days were spent socializing, building, and gathering. But the nights were filled with fighting and the screeching of the new Phantom mob!


Even a drowned pirate zombie managed to crawl its way out of the ocean and towards the settlement. But he was dispatched quickly.


Despite all of that, progress was still made on what looks to be a very promising spawn indeed. Join us tomorrow as we continue our progress, and don’t forget we are holding a server meeting at 5pm EST. We hope to see you soon on The Ancient World 1.14!
