Netherstorms on The Ancient World share similarities to Rifts but have key differences.

  • A Netherstorm will not spawn or spread netherrack tendrils.
  • They do not have any cores or hearts.
  • A Netherstorm is not “alive” like a Rift is.

Netherstorms are weather events which cannot be defeated in combat. Due to this nature they can spread much farther and wider than most Rifts can, causing widespread devastation and corruption on the land.

Netherstorms eventually subside but can also remain persistent for a very long time – leaving behind vast stretches of no-mans land.
